Ecstatic Dance July- featuring playlist and live music by Keco

  • Soul Studios 3303 Bahia Vista Dr Sarasota, FL, 34232 United States (map)

This month we welcome back Keith Coker ( known as Keco) an amazing musician!!! EXPAND is our theme....come tap into your inner fireworks and expand out into your dance.

He'll be creating a soundscape for our dance blending a mix of genres of music woven into 2 waves with a beautiful ending of live flute music to take us in to bliss. We will be using the one large room thru the summer. Our opening circle begins at 8:00pm ( please note the time change from previous months) We will open with a poem read by Mary Masi, a warm up into your body by Kelly Atkins inviting us into the dance of moving our own way. At 9:45pm we slow down and re-connect with some tea.

What is Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic Dance is Freeform Conscious Dance. It means it is a safe space to express yourself however you want to move to the music, without faciliitation. To enhance this experience of movement, there is no talking on the dancefloor, nor are cameras allowed, so you can feel fully free and alive in your dance.

Being Barefoot is also encouraged to feel more connected to the ground.

This is a Sacred Space where you are invited to come as you are, however that is; without the use of alcohol or recreational drugs. You may find yourself Dancing in your Bliss... or Dancing your Grief... Perhaps with your Joy, your Sorrow... Your Anger, Your Silliness... Your Sexiness... All of it... This is Your Dance Space.

For some this is Movement Church. it's a Chance to Connect with Others, or simply to Find Oneself. For some it is simply great Excercise, and others it is their Psycho/Somatic Therapy.

We will not tell you What to do, or How to Be, as You Experience your Dance as you Wish... You are Free...

As long as we agree to these two simple Guidelines:

1. No Talking on the Dancefloor

2. Respect the Space. Yours & Others.

Many people dance in their own space, and others share their space with another.

To engage in a dance with someone, use sensitivity: Are they open to sharing their space with me? Mirror movements, offer a hand, brush by, make eye contact, and see & feel how they respond...

How much?: Love Offering. Suggested between $10-15

When: First Friday of every month 8:00-10:00pm

Wear comfortable clothes. Bring a water bottle.
Open for all ages.
